History

2-Tone emerged in the late 1970s in the United Kingdom, born out of a fusion of Jamaican ska and punk rock. It was closely associated with the 2 Tone Records label, founded by Jerry Dammers of The Specials. The genre was part of a broader cultural movement that promoted racial unity and addressed social issues, with bands like The Specials, Madness, and The Selecter leading the charge.
