Lunar Boom's AI Music Quiz asks listeners to hear short clips and decide whether each one is human-made or AI-generated. After more than 240 responses, participants misidentified about 35% of the tracks on average.
The quiz measures track classification
The result means listeners got roughly one in three track judgments wrong across the responses collected. It does not mean that 35% of people were unable to tell AI music from human music.

Some AI tracks blended in convincingly
The source points to examples across chill lofi, cinematic ambience, and upbeat pop, and argues that generated music can already reproduce enough emotion, groove, and genre character to make classification difficult in some cases.
That does not show that every AI track is indistinguishable from human music. It shows that sound alone was not a reliable cue for every clip in this particular quiz.
Detection is only one part of the AI music question
If listeners cannot always identify the production method by ear, disclosure, authorship, and artist identity become separate questions from audio quality.
The quiz is therefore more useful as a test of perception than as proof that AI has replaced human musicians.
